Situations

In an atmosphere that opens up both the space and the spirit, Situations places five men (and guest artists) in an unusual dance boot camp so as to deconstruct new masculine stereotypes such as the “metrosexual” and the “lumbersexual”. With strength and humour they establish their place and make their mark, casting new light on contemporary masculinity, far removed from sterile preconceptions. Enough of simplistic visions! A plurality of sexual models exists, yet the discourse remains the same, for old and increasingly obscure, outmoded conventions are taken for granted. And men still predominate in positions of power, with male privilege insidiously conveyed in the way certain products, from trucks to body lotion, are marketed. Disinformation is everywhere. Razors are pink for girls, blue for boys. Situations delineates the absurdity and the tyranny of our environment and poses the following questions. What does it mean to be a man today? What might women have to say about it?
