Dance Against Violence is a large-scale project bringing help to women in difficulty. It is a unique initiative in Quebec. The organisation offers dance workshops to women that are victims of domestic violence, giving them the opportunity to regain control of their bodies as well as their self-esteem.
This alliance between the art world and community action is a partnership project between Agora de la danse, dance company Montréal Danse and La Dauphinelle, a shelter for women that are victims of domestic violence.
Since 2008, a number of afflicted women will be able to benefit from extraordinary workshops in which dance will play an essential role in their journey towards their well-being. This year, a workshop program will be offered in four Montreal shelters (Assistance aux femmes, La Dauphinelle, Escale pour Elle and Alternatelle).
On May 17, 2012, Dance Against Violence (Danse contre la violence) will once again be a partner of Agora’s benefit event Soirée Danse-Affaires and the organisation will take the opportunity to reveal its new web site.
